First up was the big day in Jefferys Bay, my brother tying the knot with his beautiful Tillie. The drive down was a torturous 9 hours. It was Luke’s first road trip and he made sure we jumped at his every beck and call. The Saturday came and went faster than you could imagine. I was best man and had the privilege of saying a few words.
After the speech, Bethie dragged me to the car, we said our good byes and headed through the night to the start of the Epic.
After the week of hard racing, with one final stage left to go, my sister in law was also tying the knot. The drive to Stanford wasn’t quite as long, but the fatigue was setting in. I was happy to have been able to witness both of these special days of these 4 special people, during a race I had the privilege of completing.
