We as endurance athletes are constantly looking for ways to smash our bodies, push the limits of what is possible and challenge ourselves to new heights – bring on Enduroman.
The race, starting in the beautiful Franschoek Valley on the Berg River dam, consists of a 2.5km swim, 80km mtb and 22km trail run.
Having not raced for a good couple of weeks, I was excited to test myself and clear out a few cob webs.
It turned out a peach of a day, all going to plan me spending a 5hour race alone out front. It gave me the chance to really enjoy the incredible views and appreciate the race from a different dynamic.
I pushed hard where it was necessary and conserved when needed. I came into T2 with a 15 odd minute lead and so the run was mainly down to ticking off the km’s.
Stoked with the win and a positive vibe for the first Enduroman SA.Photo credit: Oakpics
