“ In what will be a first for Eikestadnuus, this community newspaper will publish a calendar at the end of the year to raise funds for the Stellenbosch Safe House and the Anna Foundation.

The calendar offers the opportunity to take a stand against the abuse of women and children.

Eikestadnuus asked local sportsmen to support the project.

Eikestad KalenderThe athletes were happy to be involved, and the calendar features multisport athletes Dan Hugo, Stuart Marais, Bradley Weiss and Matthew Daneel; professional triathlete Richard Murray; Springbok Sevens rugby players Chris Dry and Stephan Dippenaar; soccer player Alcardo van Graan; professional mountain biker Erik Kleinhans; personal trainer Ian van Zyl and South African hockey players Dylan Swanepoel and Jean-Pierre de Voux.

Marais and his son Luke modelled together. “This is a campaign I feel strongly about. I figured if I could create awareness to a certain extent and even make a difference in one household, the calendar served its purpose. “Being a dad and a husband makes me so much more passionate about helping. Too many beautiful and innocent children suffer at the hands of abusers. Too many amazing women live in fear. This campaign I hope will instill hope in these women and children. They are not alone.”

The Safe House and the Anna Foundation are very excited about the project.”
